DotA Guide to Clickability

Posted by admin at 3:04 PM 0 comments

DotA Guide to Clickability - Here is a very helpful guide on effective clicking of DotA heroes brought to us by Infrisios.

Foreword

The battle between Sven and Gondar lasts for minutes already, always Gondar appears somewhere out of the windwalk, attacks once, twice, and disappears again!

After some time Sven decides that it is enough: using his chicken, he gets dust of appearance!

Again Gondar attacks, but now Sven is prepared: move away from the creeps, activate dust, a-click! Until Bounty Hunter actually recognised what happened, he is low enough to be finished by a single storm bolt, but too far away to be taken down by a hit. Clever Sven has, of course, saved his storm bolt...and now that happens:

In this small guide, I want to give you a deeper understanding of the mechanics behind clicking.

Where you can click

Basically, models in WC3 consist of both visible and invisible parts.

The most important (mostly) visible parts are the geosets, they are basically the forms of the model. Depending on the setting of the geosets and the skin, they can be invisible or partially invisible as well.

No need for further details, what we need to know here is: can you click the geoset?

Well, the answer is yes for most, but no for very few others.

As a rule-of-the-thumb you can click all "substantial" parts of a model while insubstantial parts, like the hero glow, can not be clicked (there are exceptions, though).

As an example model, I use the paladin: A totally common model with a common clickability and hero glow.

In the following picture, you can see the cursor being clearly on the hero glow, but technically not pointing on the hero.

It also shows the geosets that are clickable (marked with red nodes) and unclickable (hero glow, marked with green nodes - the transparence is part of the texture, the polygons count for clicking):

You can assume that you can click any model if you hit the body!

But why are some heroes easier to click than others?

That's because they have so-called "collision shapes": Spheres helping you to click a model, if you do not click the body, but click a sphere, it is a hit!

Note that collision shapes have NOTHING to do with ingame collision, though.

Here is an example on collision shapes:

You can clearly see the blue spheres around the Paladin, and even though the cursor is not on the Paladin's body, you can click him!

Heroes that are difficult to click

With the spheres, we also have the problem with certain heroes.

The most problematic heroes are undeniably Bounty Hunter and Rooftrellen.

Let's take a look at the easier model...

Rooftrellen

Treason! Only a single sphere! If you click him between the arms and the body, you won't hit him! So if you want to hit him, click on the feet which have a sphere. His large Torso can't be clicked, the reason for that is the fact that his model is usually used by towers and you should, of course, be able to click units behind towers.

But Treant is a tiny problem compared to the (old) nemesis of the cursor:

The Bounty Hunter!

Why is was this damned model so difficult to click? Well, take a look at his collision shapes:

LAWL INFRINUB FORGOT TO ADD SPHEER!!!11....nope. I didn't.

Gondar doesn't have any. Whether he developed some uber ninja technique to remove them or whether blizzard was just lazy, we'll never know.
You MUST hit a substantial body part if you want to click him!

As an additional problem, Gondar always runs around like a madman and people click at him like madmen because he might be invis any time, so they do not focus on precision.

The new model has two full collision spheres that equal Dark Seer's spheres by 100%.

By the way, Gondar is the ONLY draenei who had this problem. If someone tells you he can't hit Dark Seer because he uses a model like Gondar's it is a bad excuse.

However, Venomancer still got this problem.

Bane Elemental

Another model people often whine about is Bane Elemental, but the problem is different here:

Collision shapes are objects with a static position, they do not move with the animations of a model - so the model can move out of it's sphere, and even though you have an even larger area to click, the body itself is more difficult to click:

When Bane Elemental attacks, he completely leaves his sphere, leaving him difficult to click. When he channels, his arms leave his sphere - so take care to hit his body, and not, like many people, try to hit him between the arms or something.

Due to his grotesque body, parts of him area always out of the shapes.

By the way: Collision shapes do not have to be spheres, they can be boxes as well:

So let's summarize it
-You can click the body of any unit, but some parts might make an exception
-If you don't hit the body, collision shapes help you in many cases
-but some heroes have problematic collision shapes!

Other Heroes

Other heroes are problematic as well.

Even though people don't complain about him as much as about Bounty Hunter, Venomancer has no collision shapes as well.

Some people claim that since Bounty Hunter is hard to click, Dark Seer must be hard to click as well. That is NOT true, Dark Seer got totally fine collision shapes - seems to be some psychological thingy.

and what can('t) be done against it

Well, the Gondar problem has been solved, after all.

My suggestion to solve other problems is:

take some time! It does not have to be much, for concentrating on a single action you only need a split-second. Instead of clicking a thousand times, wait a bit and hit a single, but working, click - comparable to the difference between barrage and a sniper's shot. Like with a headshot, the information from this guide may help you to know where you can click best ;-)

I "heard rumours" that external solutions exist, but I strongly disapprove the use of these since they give you an unfair advantage.

What is OMG DotA?

Posted by admin at 5:20 AM 0 comments

Dota OMG is the map based on one of latest DotA Allstars map (currently 6.66b), with one big change — heroes allowed to have any ability.
You can download it by clicking here.

There are two ways to change hero's skill set — random or pick. They must be activated by using it own mode, which must be writen with other game modes.

1. Random abilities
- can be activated by typing -ra with other game modes; the most interesting and fun games are with -ardm mode, so blue player must type -ardmra like gamemode

When any hero appears in game (was picked or randomed) it gains 3 random standart abilities and 1 random ultimate. They are random from pool of avaible abilities and go throught some checks (details below).

Note: -ra is compatible with every game mode, except -ad

2. Abilities Draft
- can be activated by typing -ad with other game modes

Every player can choose 3 standart abilities and 1 ultimate for his hero. Picking goes in a draft style. Abilities can be bought in taverns, which are filled with 66 standart abilities and 22 ultimates randomed from pool of avaible abilities.

There are tips for every ability in tavern, which contain its name, main hero (which have this ability in normal game), hotkey, some properties and list of unstackable abilities. Also there is a clever checking system which prevents your hero from learning unstackable abilities and some other bugs.

# Draft process.
## 1. Every player must pick/get a hero. This heroes will be on pause. If someone leaves without hero, anyone must type -recheck to refresh game info about players. Draft will start when every player gets a hero.

## 2. When game says about draft start, 8 of 9 taverns will be filled with 66 standart abilities and 22 ultimates. Every player has 60 seconds to learn the assortment of abilities.

## 3. Draft starts after this time. It goes in 3 phases:
- 1st phase: blue/pink player starts, every player can learn 2 standart skills or 1 ultimate on his turn
- 2nd phase: brown/orange player starts, every player can learn 1 standart skills or 1 ultimate on his turn
- 3rd phase: blue/pink player starts, every player can learn up to 2 standart skills or 1 ultimate on his turn
Every phase goes in well-known 1-2-2-2-2-1 draft order. Every player has 15 seconds for every turn.
If you didn't learn something, you will get money to learn it after all 3 phases.

## 4. When your hero learns 3 standart skills and 1 ultimate, it will be unpaused and you'll get back your gold status before draft.

After draft ends creeps will go in 1 minute.

Also, there is a special game mode called Duplicate Abilities (can be activated by typing -da), which allows for players to pick same abilities.

Note: -ad is uncompatible with -ra, -rd, -cd, -dm and -sp modes

3. Additional Info.
- Aghanim's Scepter doesn't improve ultimates. Exception is when hero has its own ulti (rylai - freezing field, lina - laguna blade, etc.).
- Don't buy or pick any orbs for Luna. It will crash your attack.
- Don't pick together abilities, which has non-constant % or + damage (Enrage, Nethertoxin, Empowering Haste, Ancestral Spirit, Berserker's Blood, Static Link)
- Don't use -switch in -ad before the draft ends.
- Abilities with bash won't stack with Cranium Basher.

4. Special commands.
-skills — shows current abilities of your hero with some numbers, which is useful when you found a bug
-skillsallies (or -sa) — shows current abilities of your allies
-showskills (works only in -ra) — shows what skills has been given to your allies when they get new hero
-showprocess (only in -ad)(only blue player) — shows picking abilities process to everyone (who and what picked)

5. Checking system.
Many abilities in DotA are based on same abilities from Warcraft, and they have same orders. If 1 hero gets 2 abilities with same orders then they will be used at one moment or only 1 of them will work. Because of this, when game or player chooses ability, it goes throught special checking for compatible of abilities, that already hero has.
Some abilities can be used only on melee or ranged attack, so abilities goes throught hero attack type checking. Also, some abilities takes 2 or more active icons after learning, and if there is no more place, some abilities may disappear. To prevent it, there is a checking of this.

Totally: your hero will never get uncompatible abilities, will never get abilities for melee(ranged) attack, if it's ranged(melee), also you will never lose your skills.

General Questions

How to Record Dota Using Fraps

What do the options do?

Selecting "Start Fraps minimized" will hide the Fraps dialog screen when you launch the program. Fraps can still be accessed through the icon in the system tray.

Selecting "Fraps window always on top" will ensure the program window remains visible even when switching to another application. This option has no effect if Fraps has been minimized to the system tray.

If you'd like Fraps to be loaded when you turn on your machine enable the "Run Fraps when Windows starts" option.

Fraps also supports separate LCD screens on keyboards such as the Logitech® G15™. If you have a supported keyboard you will see the option to "Display status on keyboard LCD". Enabling this option will allow you to see FPS graphs and other identifiers on the keyboard while playing your games. If you have a G15 but do not see this option then you may need to install the latest G15 drivers available from Logitech's website.

Does Fraps have a performance impact on the game?

There is a small overhead associated with drawing the framerate on screen. This may vary depending on your system configuration, but should remain relatively minimal. The best way to measure it on your own system is to find a game that allows you to benchmark it and compare the results obtained with and without Fraps loaded.

When you are benchmarking the overlay is automatically disabled to provide the most accurate results.

If you are recording a movie with Fraps there can be a noticable impact on the game. This is due to all the extra work involved in saving the screen data to disk.

FPS (Frames Per Second)

How to Record Dota Using Fraps

What do the options do?

The Overlay Display Hotkey lets you assign a button that will toggle the frame rate counter between the four corners and off. To change the Hotkey, click in the box and type a new key to be assigned this function. Clicking Disable will stop the Hotkey from having any effect.

The Benchmarking Hotkey lets you assign a button that can be used to determine the average frame rate between any two points in a game. To change the Hotkey, click in the box and type a new key to be assigned this function. Clicking Disable will stop the Hotkey from having any effect.

The overlay corner indicates the region of the screen that the framerate counter will be displayed in. Choose a corner that doesn't obstruct important information in the game's display. If you select Disabled the frame rate counter will not be displayed on screen.

Selecting "Only update overlay once a second" will only change the frame rate counter once a second.

Selecting "Save frame rate to file each second" will output the frame rate once a second to the file FRAPSSEC.TXT in your Fraps directory. This option is deprecated and has been removed in Fraps 2.7.0. Use the detailed FPS statistics option to get individual CSV files for each benchmark run.

The "Stop benchmark automatically" option allows you to specify a fixed duration for the benchmark. Once the number of seconds has elapsed the benchmark will automatically stop and the results will be written to disk.

Finally, detailed benchmark statistics can also be saved to disk. These are written in standard CSV files that can be imported directly into a spreadsheet. All files are automatically named/timestamped and saved in the benchmarks subdirectory. Currently there are 3 files written for each benchmark when this option is enabled:

* FPS - Contains the frame rate value for each second of the benchmark
* frametimes - Contains the time (in milliseconds) of every frame that was rendered in the benchmark
* minmaxavg - Contains the total frame count, benchmark duration, minimum, maximum, and average frame rate values.

How can I average the framerate between two points?

While in the game press the key you assigned to the Benchmarking Hotkey. This will mark the start of where averaging is to take place. A green box is displayed to let you know that logging has begun, and then the counter is removed for maximum accuracy. When you want to end the benchmark, press the Hotkey again. The average framerate will now be displayed in a red box. Full details are also saved in the file FRAPSLOG.TXT in your Fraps folder, and into the benchmark directory if you have detailed statistics enabled.

What is the maximum framerate Fraps will show?

Fraps will show a maximum framerate of 9999 fps on screen. If you need to know precise framerates above this you must use benchmarking and find out the value from FRAPSLOG.TXT, or from the detailed statistics (if you have this option enabled).

Why doesn’t Fraps show above 30fps, 60fps, 75 fps (or any other framerate) in my game?

This can be due to several reasons.

Many games have internal limits that prevent them rendering faster than a certain framerate. In some cases this can mean they are locked at a maximum framerate of only 30fps.

Another possibility is that you have Vsync enabled. Vsync is used to synchronise the output of your graphics card with the display of your monitor. When your graphics card has finished rendering the next frame it waits for the monitor to finish displaying the current one before switching to the new one. This means that the maximum framerate you can obtain will be equal to the refresh rate of your monitor (which is usually 60hz, 75hz, 85hz, or 100hz).

If you disable Vsync then your graphics card will continuously render without waiting for the last frame to be displayed in its entirety. With fast graphics cards this means that your monitor may switch to a new frame halfway down the screen. This effect is known as tearing as there appears to be a visible line separating two different halves. Due to this, you should generally leave Vsync enabled except when benchmarking.

Screen Capture Questions

How to Record Dota Using Fraps

What do the options do?

You can select the folder where Fraps will store all screenshots in. By default this folder is the same as the directory you installed Fraps into, but you can customise it to save anywhere on your disk. Click the Change button to select a new folder, or the View button to show the current contents of the folder.

The Screen Capture Hotkey lets you assign a button that will take a screenshot of the game screen. To change the Hotkey, click in the box and type a new key to be assigned this function. Clicking Disable will stop the Hotkey from having any effect.

Screenshots can be saved in Windows Bitmap (BMP), JPEG (JPG), Portable Network Graphics (PNG), or Targa (TGA) format.

Selecting "Include frame rate overlay on screenshots" will include the Fraps frame rate counter on your screenshots. If the frame rate overlay is disabled, no counter will be saved on your screenshots.

What is the maximum resolution supported by the screen capture?

Screenshots can be taken in games running at resolutions up to 2560x1600.

Video Capture Questions

How to Record Dota Using Fraps

What do the options do?

You can select the folder where Fraps will store all movies in. By default this folder is the same as the directory you installed Fraps into, but you can customise it to save anywhere on your disk. Click the Change button to select a new folder, or the View button to show the current contents of the folder.

The Video Capture Hotkey lets you assign a button that will record movies of the game. To change the Hotkey, click in the box and type a new key to be assigned this function. Clicking Disable will stop the Hotkey from having any effect.

Choosing Half-size will store the movie at half the resolution of the game screen. Full-size will store the movie at the same resolution as the game screen.

You can choose the frame rate of the output movie from 25fps, 30fps, 50fps, 60fps, or a custom value up to 100fps. Higher values result in smoother playback but will increase the file size. Some video editing programs will treat movies recorded at 25fps as PAL, and those captured at 29.97/30fps as NTSC.

Selecting "Record Sound" will save the game audio along with the video. You can disable this option if you are planning to add your own sound to the video.

When you select "Detect best sound input" Fraps will determine the best input to record the game sound on. If you choose "Use Windows input" the default Windows recording input will be used. The Windows input may not capture all of the game sounds, so you should generally let Fraps detect the input unless you want to capture sound from an external source.

How do I record a movie while running a game?

First select the target framerate for the movie, which indicates how many frames will be included in the movie each second. You can currently choose from 25, 30, 50 or 60 fps.

In the game press the Video Capture Hotkey (F9) when you want to start recording. While recording the frame rate counter will turn red. When you want to end your movie, press the button again to stop recording. You will now find the movie saved in your default folder.

What is the maximum resolution supported by Half/Full-size video capture?

The maximum resolution for full-size and half-size capture is currently 2560x1600.

Why is the AVI movie generated by Fraps so big? How can I reduce the size?

The filesize is big because there isn’t enough time to encode the movie while the game is running. The movie frames are slightly compressed, but still require a large amount of disk space due to the high resolutions. Once you have finished capturing you should convert the saved AVI into one of the popular compressed movie formats such as mpeg or divx. Recommended programs for doing this are tmpgenc (Tsunami Mpeg Encoder), and VirtualDub.

Using VirtualDub is quite easy. To create a compressed version of the AVI follow these steps:

  • Start VirtualDub
  • Select File->Open and choose the AVI in the Fraps directory you wish to compress.
  • Select Video->Compression and choose the codec you wish to compress with (usually divx)
  • Select File->Save As AVI and specify a filename for the new AVI.

If you have Windows XP you can also use Windows Movie Maker to compress the video files. If you use Windows Movie Maker it's recommended that you keep your Fraps video files at 800x600 or under.

Why do I get a source format error when I try to compress with DIVX?

Divx6 places restrictions on the video resolution for many of its profiles and this may cause an error when handling large Fraps videos. In Virtualdub you can go to the Divx codec configuration screen and set it to use the "Unconstrained Profile". This will allow you to encode movies of any resolution and won't generate the source format error.

How do I stop the frame rate counter being saved on my movies?

The frame rate counter shouldn't be saved on your movies. What you may be seeing is Fraps showing the frame rate of your media player. Try exiting Fraps before playing your videos and you should see clean images. If this doesn't help you can disable the frame rate counter before recording by pressing the Overlay Display hotkey.

When I view the movie I saved the video skips and the sound crackles. What's wrong?

Your media player may be having trouble keeping up with the large amount of data Fraps has written to disk. Fraps is optimised for processing large amounts of data, but many players are not. If they can't read the data fast enough skips in the video and audio may be present.

Keep in mind the raw data saved to disk should be fine. If you encode the video into a compressed format you will likely end up with a video file that plays perfectly due to the greatly reduced file size.

You can also lower the movie frame rate or use a lower resolution to reduce the data saved to the hard disk.

How can I adjust the volume of the sound that is recorded?

You must configure the volume through the "Sounds and Audio Devices" item in the Control Panel. Use the following steps:

  • Click on the Control Panel and select Sounds And Audio.
  • Click on the Audio tab.
  • Find the Sound Recording device and click Volume.
  • Adjust the volume for the Input that Fraps is recording from. This is usually named "What U Hear", "Record Master", or "Stereo Mixer".

If you can't see the correct Input on screen you may need to enable it by clicking on Properties in the menu and ensuring all Inputs have a check beside their name.

Where can I find the custom Fraps FPS1 codec?

The Fraps codec (FPS1) is put on the system when you install Fraps. If you've reinstalled Windows you will also need to reinstall Fraps in order to play back your movies.

Please keep in mind that if you want to give your raw footage to another person they will also need to have Fraps installed.

  • Installing Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
  • Installing Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Expansion
  • Updating the Patch
  • Downloading the Latest Map for DotA
  • Playing Online
  • Playing Against Computer

INSTALLING REIGN OF CHAOS

Installing Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

First, place the CD in your CD drive. Open My Computer (if you're using Windows), click on the icon of the CD, and install it.

Step 1
* Click "Install Warcraft III" when the Warcraft III Setup opens.

Follow the instructions given afterwards. Accept the Terms of Agreement, after reading it definitely, and proceed to the next page.

Step 2
* Enter your name and unique CD Key. I'll be entering an example name and my own CD Key as an example, but I covered it for privacy. I didn't cover the "example" name, of course. Click OK.

The CD Key can be only be legally found at the box of your Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.

Step 3
* Enter the installation directory. It's best to leave it as it is. Click OK.

Step 4
* Installation will now begin. It will take several seconds, so wait a while. After a few minutes, it should be done.

Step 5
* After successfully installing, it will prompt you to place a desktop shortcut. Not necessary, because you'll be playing Frozen Throne, not this.

INSTALLING FROZEN THRONE

Installing Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne

You just installed Reign of Chaos. Take its CD out, place the TFT CD, and let's install The Frozen Throne.

Step 1
* Click "Install Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne" when the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Setup opens.

Again, accept the terms of Agreement, after reading it. This will lead you to the CD Key page.

Step 2
* Enter your CD Key. Click OK.

The CD Key can be only be legally found at the box of your Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.

Step 3
* Wait for the installation to finish successfully. Grab a Pepsi now, and drink up.

Step 4
* Now this time, you'd want to create a desktop shortcut. Click Yes.

UPDATING THE PATCH

Updating The Patch

Let's now update our patch to the latest one.

Updating the patch is very necessary. To get the latest patch, go to Frozen Throne Patch Download

You need to the download the full patch because you're starting from the very beginning. The patch version can be seen at the bottom-right corner of the opening menu when you start the game.

Once you have downloaded your patch, it's time to install it.

Step 1
* Open the patch you downloaded. It will do it's job after. When it's done, click OK. Uncheck the box if you want.

Note: When the patch starts installing, the screen will turn black. Then it will install by itself. After it's done, the screen will go back to normal.

The good thing about patch 1.22a, is that you don't need a CD to play the game (it has actually been this way since 1.21b).

Congratulations! You now have the latest patch for DotA. It is 1.22a as of now. Refer to the changelog made by this update for more info.

DOWNLOADING THE LATEST DOTA MAP

Downloading the Latest Dota Map

To get the latest Dota map, go to Dota latest release and stable map

Step 1
* Go here and download the latest map.

Step 2
* If you're using Mozilla FireFox, choose to Save the File. You can't open it.

Step 3
* Transfer the file to your Warcraft directory. Default directory is: C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Maps\Download

The default directory is very important. Any tampering with it will have effects on Garena and downloading from Warcraft, especially when playing with others.

Congratulations! You now have the latest map for DotA. It is 6.57b as of now.

Playing DotA

You can now play DotA.

But you have to adjust a few things as well. That's where Options comes into the picture. Click Options on the Main Menu (4th button from the top).

Step 1
* Adjust your VIDEO Settings.

GAMMA: Brightens or darkens up a screen.
RESOLUTION: I find the 1024x768x16 Resolution fitting for my monitor. If you have a bigger monitor, select a bigger resolution. A bigger resolution means a more detailed screen.
MODEL DETAIL: Defines how detailed model units can be.
ANIMATION QUALITY: Enhances animation, i.e. attacks and some effects.
TEXTURE QUALITY: Improves the overall texture, from the menus, the terrain and the models. Medium allows you to read the loadscreen.
PARTICLES: Enhances detail of other objects and doodads.
LIGHTS: Sets how light affects everything.
UNIT SHADOWS: This must be on to ensure good gameplay.
OCCLUSION: Determines how an object can be hidden by other objects. Best set to On. This also allows -weather effects.
SPELL DETAIL: This must be set to High at all times, for me. If it is set to Low, you will find it hard to notice when spells are around.

Step 2
* Set your GAMEPLAY Settings.

The only things needed to tamper with here are:

MOUSE SCROLL: How sensitive do you want your cursor to be?
KEYBOARD SCROLL: Same here, but with the keyboard.
ALWAYS SHOW HEALTH BARS: As of 1.22a, health bars can now be permanent.
AUTOMATICALLY SAVE REPLAYS: This feature automatically saves replays inside your replays folder.

Step 3
* Configure your SOUND Settings. Do what you want here.

Step 4
* Now just go online and join a dota game!

Where is leragas the vile in dota

Posted by admin at 9:46 PM 0 comments

Where is leragas the vile in dota? Hard to explain the location but Leragas The Vile Secret Shop can be found in the middle lanes of both the sentinel and scourge.

For scourge before passing the first tower in the middle turn to the right and you will find a path leading to the guy. Another way of finding it is in the bottom lane, just turn to the left after passing the first bottom tower. Another clue would be if you know the location of Roshan since the guy can be found north of Roshan.

For sentinel
Middle lane: After the first tower turn left then go north
Top lane: After first tower turn right then go north

Where is leragas the vile in dota

Easiest way to find both secret shops:

Go to singleplayer, start a dota game alone, and type the cheat: Iseedeadpeople to take away the fog of war.

Devil's Urethra presents a new song: Casualties of War

Devil's Urethra presents a new song: Casualties of War
Source: Dota Allstars

Lyrics:

Relax! Just like a Beastmaster's axe you knew I'd be back,
Just like Don Exodus when everyone knew that he hacked,
Except I've sharpened my wit on the bones of my foes,
and those who are slow in my path become prone to my blows and wrath

no matter your build, items or skills,
if you play against me you're bound to get killed,
your team startled at the sound of the shrills,
seven days later body found in the hills

got blades of attack and my broadsword stacked,
then once I get a demon edge, you all fall get back,
take your manhood extract your balls from the sack,
in my rax got a hall full of plaques

i taught troll how to berserk and blind,
i taught techies how to work their mines,
i'm the one who lends avernus time,
i'm the one who makes these fervent rhymes,

already got an armlet,
you haven't even farmed yet,
gotta kill techies before he becomes a bomb threat

i sway to evade your blade in one step,
strike quick and make ya hug death

[chorus]
blood on the battlefield, blood on my hands,
divided we fall but together we stand,
band together to take over these lands,
flank to gank and you'll gain command

sweat on my brow and sweat in my eyes,
noobs on my team are death in disguise,
allies try to steal all my denies,
play as a team or you'll face your demise
[/chorus]

my name is ragnor i'm a totem totin' tauren,
got power and range like i was mighty morphin,
gonna need more than a sange or a sword swing,
smell a lil funny, but that's mainly a horde thing

time to lay a gank of epic proportion,
kelen's dagger, echo slam, WAIT, fissure, WAIT,
now I'm bathing and snorkling in the wave form of morphling,
it takes more than potions to escape from this tauren

bandana round my teeth i don't hide behind a mask,
eradicate my enemies with paralyzing casks,
stun 'em all at once then prepare for my attacks,
enemies consisting of razorback and axe,

even though they're stunned they still manage to whine,
hit em quick with maledict's damage over time,
upgrade to sceptre to get more than one shot,
spraying enemies like a peter north cum shot

[chorus]

I'm a beast so your team's got me focused
hocus pocus, summon a ghost ship,
hit you with my sange have you running like a tortoise,
hit 'em with a torrent, send 'em soaring to the sky,
battlefury cleaving water pouring they will die,
pwning helping items at the store for me to buy

I get more hits when my stones are hyper,
crystalys on my dwarven sniper,

you'll never achieve victory, if you don't play for it,
that's why I'm crowned king like my name was leoric,
Devil's Urethra skills heroic,
Each verse I pull out of the stone historic

allow me to take an orb and throw it,

then ya struck, screamin out what the puck,
switch to where the illusory orb is pitched,
dream coil, team spoiled, then I phase shift,
and watch your face split in my waning rift,

now you're on the ground splayed like fish,
you just lay, twitch and strain to lift,
this is your last day alive so make a wish

[chorus]

How to remap hotkeys with AutoHotkey

Posted by admin at 11:49 PM 0 comments

People have asked how to remap their hotkeys. And since it's really easy, here's how you do it. Of course you can remap all sorts of hotkeys (and do a lot of other stuff too) but we wont go too in depth on that subject. Read the whole guide before you start to type a single line of code, good luck!

AutoHotkey is a free, open-source utility for Windows. With it, you can:
  • Automate almost anything by sending keystrokes and mouse clicks. You can write a mouse or keyboard macro by hand or use the macro recorder.
  • Create hotkeys for keyboard, joystick, and mouse. Virtually any key, button, or combination can become a hotkey.
  • Expand abbreviations as you type them. For example, typing "btw" can automatically produce "by the way".
  • Create custom data-entry forms, user interfaces, and menu bars.
  • Remap keys and buttons on your keyboard, joystick, and mouse.
  • Respond to signals from hand-held remote controls via the WinLIRC client script.
  • Convert any script into an EXE file that can be run on computers that don't have AutoHotkey installed.
So before you do anything, follow these links below, download and install.

Follow these links:
AutoHotkey 1.0.48.05 installer
AutoHotkey 1.0.48.05 zip

Now let's make our very first script:

1. Right click on your desktop (or where you want the script to be) then choose "New" --> "AutoHotkey script"
2. You will now see a icon popping up, this is your script. Give it a name, e.g. "test".
3. Now right click the script-icon you just created and choose "Edit script". Now a notepad window will popup that has a bunch of text there. You can leave the text there or remove it, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Now when you save this file it will be named "something.ahk". That it ends with ".ahk means that it's a autohotkey script. To run it, simply duble click on it (although, nothing will happen, yet).

When you've ran it a tray icon will appear in the lower right corner. To exit the script, right click the tray icon and select "exit"

Ok so lets start with the actual programming. First lets try this, open your script and at a blank line type:

^space::Run www.dota-allstars.com

Then save and run the script. Now you will see that a small tray icon appears in the right down corner of your screen. Then press ctrl and space. So, what have you just done? "^" stands for the ctrl modifier key. "space" stands for.... you guessed it, the space key! "::" is what tells the program that this is the hotkey, and whatever comes after that is what is to be done when it's pressed. In this case, it runs the url "www.dota-allstars.com" in your default browser.

Let's try something else. Type this on 2 blank rows:

q::Send {enter}hello world!!1{sleep 700}{backspace}
w::space

This is two different ways of remapping hotkeys. The above one uses send, while the one below remaps the key directly. In the one that uses send you see that you have to put brackets ("{}") around key names while you don't have to do that when remapping them directly. Try pressing q and w to see what happens (preferably in a text box).

You can also do like this:

q::
Send {enter}hello world!!1
sleep 700
Send {backspace}
sleep 1500
Msgbox Hello
Return

You can put the things you want to happen below the hotkey, and then end it with a "return". You have to use this format when making more advanced macros, that take more than one line of code. The send command can do a lot, but not everything.

One last. Try this:

enter::tooltip DOWN
enter up::tooltip UP

space::SoundBeep
space up::Msgbox BEEEEEP!

As you see I have a something happen when i press the button, and something else happen when I release it.

Getting the hang of it?

This following piece of code is to show how to make comments in AHK:
After some experimenting I've noticed that this forum (sometimes) removes spaces in front of ";". So my example may not work if you copy/paste. You will need to add a space infront of the ";" (no quotes) or it wont be a comment.

#persistent;this will prevent to script from shutting down when it's done
msgbox This is a message box, it will show
sleep 1000
msgbox This is a message box too;<- Add a space.. This wont show. It's a comment!
sleep 1000
/*
msgbox this wont show since it's a comment
msgbox neither will this one
*/
msgbox this will show though
/*
one last comment....
*/

Here we're going to put some examples of what you can do.

*XButton1::Send, {F1}^8{Numpad7}
*XButton1 up::Send {click}8

*XButton2::Send, {F1}^8{Numpad8}
*XButton2 up::Send {click}8

 This is the one I use at the moment. XButton1 and 2 are special buttons that I have on my mouse (logitech mx518 ).

#ifWinActive, Warcraft III

;;Mouse Wheel to Item Slots
*MButton::Send {F1}{Numpad8}{LButton}8
*WheelUp::Send {F1}{Numpad7}{LButton}8
*WheelDown::Send {F1}{Numpad4}{LButton}8

Credit to "Vassily" for this one (but I modified it some). This one has two really good thing you should remember in it. First "#ifWinActive, Warcraft III", this makes the hotkeys work only in warcraft III. Second the "*" in front of the hotkeys. A * is a wild card, that means that it's anything. If you dont put that one there. The hotkey wont work if your holding e.g. alt. Because if you hold alt and press a key, autohotkey interprets that as "alt+key" instead of just "key".

$y::Send, {Numpad7}
$x::Send, {Numpad8}
$c::Send, {Numpad4}
$v::Send, {Numpad5}

*Enter::
Hotkey, $y, Toggle
Hotkey, $x, Toggle
Hotkey, $c, Toggle
Hotkey, $v, Toggle

GetKeyState, state, Shift
if state = D
Send, +{Enter}
else
Send, {Enter}
return

This is an example how you can toggle keys on and off by using the hotkey command. This is useful when you want to use a letter as a hotkey, because, you still want to be able to type, don't you? So when you press enter it toggles the hotkeys on or of, depending if they where on or off before. Then it checks if you're holding shift, and if you do it sends "alt+enter", if you're not it only sends "enter".
By the way, the $ sign prevents a hotkey to be launched by artificial input. It's not really necessary in this example though.

!c::
send c
sleep 1000
send {numpad2}+{click}
return

This is an example how you can use small macros to preform combos. In this example it's Sand King's "Epicenter + blink dagger"-combo. When you press alt+c it first sends a "c" key and sand king starts channeling epicenter. Then it waits 1000 milliseconds (one second), then it presses numpad2 to use the dagger (assuming it's in the right down slot), then finally it presses "SHIFT+click". The shift modifier is used to queue commands. So when he's done channeling, he will instantaneously use dagger and no "waves" will be wasted. (the sleep time maybe needs some tweaking)

This can of course be used for other "combos" such as "death ward + lothars", "decrepify + dagon", etcetera.

DotA Commands Guide

Posted by admin at 8:15 AM 0 comments

I. BASIC INFORMATION ON GAME MODES
* The desired game mode has to be entered before 15 seconds mark, otherwise Normal Mode is selected.
* First available player may enter these commands, checking the player list from the top.
* Game modes are entered in a single line with no separation, like "-dmaridsc", or alternatively, they can be entered separated from each other, with a hyphen (-) in front of each mode, such as "-dm -ar -id -sc".

* The order doesn't matter. The game will handle it or (in case of incorrect combination) give you another chance.

II. PRIMARY GAME MODES
* Only one of these can be selected.
* Incompatible secondary game modes are listed as well.

Normal Mode -> Team Pick
This mode is selected when no other primary mode is during the first 15 seconds. Players may pick heroes from taverns belonging to their team.

-allpick / -ap -> All Pick
Everyone may pick heroes from any tavern.
-allrandom / -ar -> All Random
Every player gets a random hero from any tavern.

Incompatible with: Reverse Mode.
-teamrandom / -tr -> Team Random
Every player gets a random hero from the taverns belonging to their team.

Incompatible with: Reverse Mode, Death Match.
-moderandom / -mr -> Mode Random
Randomly picks a mode from Random Draft, Single Draft, Vote Random and All Random All Intelligence.

Incompatible with: Reverse Mode, Death Match, All Agility, All Intelligence, All Strength, Same Hero, Range Only, Melee Only.
Added in v6.28
-leaguemode / -lm -> League Mode
All forms of random are disabled. 10 players required. The teams will pick in alternating orders, one team picking one hero, the other team picks two heroes, the first team picks two heroes, the other team picks two heroes, the first team picks their two last heroes, the other team picks their last hero (1-2-2-2-2-1). Each player has 20 seconds to pick a hero, otherwise one is randomed for him/her. The team which has the first pick is random. Can only pick from your side, Sentinel or Scourge, like Normal Mode.

Incompatible with: All secondary game modes except Shuffle Players.
Added in v6.21
-randomdraft / -rd -> Random Draft
The most popular game mode, according to this survey. Needs an even amount of players on each team to be activated. 20 random heroes are picked from all available ones and placed in a circle at the left upper corner of the map. The remaining heroes are removed, as well as the taverns. Players then pick from the available heroes like in League Mode. Goblin Techies cannot be picked in this mode.

Incompatible with: Mirror Match, Death Match, All Agility, All Intelligence, All Strength, Same Hero, Reverse Mode, Range Only, Melee Only.
Added in v6.39
-voterandom / -vr -> Vote Random
Three random matchups will be chosen, and each player gets to cast a vote on which of the three matchups they want, using -option 1/2/3. Needs an even amount of players on each team to be activated. Each presented pool always contains at least one of each strength, agility, intelligence, melee, and range hero.
Read the VI. VOTE RANDOM COMMANDS section for more information.

Incompatible with: Mirror Match, Death Match, All Agility, All Intelligence, All Strength, Same Hero, Reverse Mode, Range Only, Melee Only.
Added in v6.35
Hero variability added in v6.58
-extendedleague / -xl -> Extended League
All forms of random are disabled. 10 players required. Both team leaders (blue for Sentinel, pink for Scourge) may remove up to 4 heroes each from all available ones in the first 20 seconds. Players then pick from the remaining heroes like in League Mode.

Incompatible with: All secondary game modes except Shuffle Players.
Added in v6.43
Bans increased from 3 to 4 per side in v6.52
-singledraft / -sd -> Single Draft
Each player is presented with three random heroes, one agility, one strength, and one intelligence, in his/hers Circle of Power. They can then pick one of them.

Incompatible with: Mirror Match, Death Match, All Agility, All Intelligence, All Strength, Same Hero, Reverse Mode, Range Only, Melee Only.
Added in v6.50
-captainsmode / -cm -> Captains Mode
Blue and Pink are the team captains. You start by alternating 1/1/1 in the ban phase. Each captain removes up to 4 heroes. Running out of time does not result in a random hero ban. After that you enter the 1/2/2/ pick phase. Each captain picks the heroes his team will use. If at any time you run out of time, you start to use up your extra time. If you run out and you are in pick phase, you get a random hero. Creeps spawn 90 seconds after the pick draft phase is over. Right after the hero pick phase ends, the 5 heroes for your team are presented with a checkmark on them (RD style) allowing players on your team to pick which one they want to be. The captain that starts this process is random. If you want to give the starting to Sentinel, type -cm 1 or -cm 2 for Scourge after the game mode is entered. Ban time is 40 seconds, pick time is 60 seconds and extra time is 45 seconds.
Read the VII. CAPTAINS MODE COMMANDS section for more information.

Incompatible with: All secondary game modes.
Added in v6.55
III. SECONDARY GAME MODES
* Any number of these can be selected along with primary mode, however there are multiple restrictions (listed below).

-deathmatch / -dm -> Death Match
If you die, you will have to pick a new hero once you can respawn. If a random primary mode was selected, you will receive a hero according to that random mode. A team loses if it has 44 deaths (you can change this value with -lives # command), or if its ancient is destroyed.
Read the VIII. DEATH MATCH COMMANDS section for more information.

Incompatible with: All Intelligence, All Agility, All Strength, Reverse Mode, Same Hero, Mirror Match, Range Only, Melee Only.
Added in v6.21
-reverse / -rv -> Reverse Mode
The Sentinel's players pick the Scourge's team and the Scourge's players pick the Sentinel's team. Needs an even amount of players on each team to be activated.

Incompatible with: Death Match, Same Hero.
Added in v6.38
-mirrormatch / -mm -> Mirror Match
Requires that both teams have the same number of players. After one minute, each player pair (blue - pink, teal - gray, purple - light blue, yellow - dark green, orange - brown) will have their heroes replaced with either one of the two they had. In the end, each player pair has the same hero, and both teams have the same matchup.

-easymode / -em -> Easy Mode
Towers are weaker, experience is gained faster, and you get twice as much periodic gold (16 every 7 seconds, that is). Please refer to Nova's Guide to Experience for experience values and to Y0UR's All about Towers Guide for tower data.

Certain triggered abilities will seem as if they have no cooldown, but will not have any effect until the time in which it would normally be cooled down has passed (one example is Borrowed Time). Glyph of Fortification's cooldown is not affected by this mode.
Added in v6.36
Glyph thingy added in v6.58
